TUPAC LIVES: HOLOGRAM PAC HITS COACHELLA

Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg closed Coachella 2012 in style. Using futuristic, next level technology and the vision of Dre, Digital Domain and AV Concepts brought Tupac back from the dead. Check out the video. It's pretty insane. According to some reports, Snoop and Dre are thinking about taking Holo-Pac out on tour. The hardest working (dead) man in showbiz. Next up, Freddie Mercury and Kurt Cobain...

CYBER TRACKS: MARGATE (FT. NOFX'S EL HEFE)

NOFX guitarist Aaron 'El Hefe' Abeyta and his wife Jen have a label called Cyber-Tracks. Weird name, I know - what do they sell, fluorescent crop tops and shiny silver g-strings?

Anyway, LA three-piece Margate is working with said label. And, happy with the idiom "it's not what you know but who," their new single "Rock'n Roll Reserve" was remixed, produced by and soloed on by - you guessed it - El Hefe. Warning, the video below is extremely awkward.

Grab a copy of the new and improved "Rock'n Roll Reserve" single here.

LAWRENCE ARMS 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY DVD GETS A RELEASE DATE, FINALLY...

"That's right! After three years, a long silence, an audit by the ever-courteous IRS and a lot of speculation, we here at Lawrence Arms HQ are pleased to announce that the long awaited 10th anniversary DVD shot live at the Metro is finally coming out, courtesy of Fat Wreck Chords and Crankstrap Productions. To answer the question on everyone's mind: I don't know what the fuck took so long, but it had something to do with the fact that I guess there was something weird about Neil on the undoctored footage and so we had to get a group of specialists to go in and meticulously remove his gigantic robot dong from each frame. Whatever".

An Evening of Extraordinary Circumstance is due out June 5 on Fat Wreck. For more info and to pre-order (like me), go here...

RIP GERMANO MOSCONI - PORCO DIO!!!

Controversial Italian sportswriter and news presenter Germano Mosconi died earlier this month following a lengthy illness. I only knew him briefly, thanks to an Italian friend, but goddamn he made me laugh. Check out these classic outtakes.

Porco = pig, dio = god.

COURTNEY LOVE: THE MUPPETS ARE RAPING KURT'S MEMORY

Courtney Love has accused the new Muppets film of raping Kurt Cobain's memory by covering "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Funny, I thought that was her job...

According to TMZ, Love sold half the rights to Cobain's back catalogue to Primary Wave Music, who are free to distribute his music and gave permission for the song to be used. According to reports, PWM asked former Nirvana members Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl if they could use the track as well. And get this, some of the resulting royalties go to Love and her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.

Oh yeah, and just in case you thought she wasn't completely bonkers, check out NME's story on the accusations that Love killed Frances Bean's cat Peadbody - "It was a mountain lion that killed Peabody!!" Frances Bean filed for a restraining order from Love in 2009.

Bizarre...

HERE'S WOODY! KYLE LAMBERT'S TOY SHINING

Using brush apps on his iPad, illustrator Kyle Lambert put together a 25 panel Toy-Story-meets-The-Shining mashup that he's imaginatively calling Toy Shining. The project took Lambert two months to complete and earned him an invitation to Pixar Studios. Check out Lambert's website for the full quality storyboard and more.

ATARI TEENAGE RIOT: NIC ENDO

Old Blue Last - March 01

It was a '90s crowd. Not hip Sonic Youth, Cobain '90s, but genuine awkward misfits that just couldn't shake their uncontaminated high school awkwardness. Dead Wolf Club's guitar-smashing geek rage was a perfect soundtrack for my sudden warp through time. Atari Teenage Rose went on an hour late. Alec Empire snuck on stage and hid behind the digital hardcore generator. Then Atari Teenage Riot exploded and kept… on… going…

THE DICTATOR: TRAILER & WHY DONALD TRUMP WANTS TO PUNCH COHEN IN THE FACE

Check out the trailer for Sacha Baron Cohen's latest The Dictator. One person that didn't get the joke, Donald Trump, wants to
punch Cohen in the face after he appeared at the Oscars dressed as Admiral General Shabazz Aladeen and dumped the ashes of Kim Jong-il all over Ryan Seacrest.

Just like Borat and Bruno, The Dictator was directed by Seinfeld legend Larry Charles. So you know this shit's going to be awesome...

And in other news, Cohen has signed a three film deal with Paramount. Check it out.

THE HELL: SAUVE LES REQUINS EP

Matt Skiba's one busy dude. Lately, between broken bones sand Instagram, he's been creating a shitload of new music. The latest Skiba side project, Matt Skiba and the Sekrets (featuring AFI bassist Hunter Burgan and current My Chemical Romance touring drummer Jarrod Alexander) has a debut album, Babylon, due out later this year. In the meantime, he's started a two man band (bromance) with ex-Angels & Airwaves (and ex-Offspring, Social Distortion, Rocket From the Crypt etc...) drummer Atom Willard, called theHELL.

Without really meaning to be, theHELL is every diehard Alkaline Trio fan's wet dream. The production, especially on Skiba's vocals, sounds more like old Alkaline Trio than anything the Chicago three-piece has released in almost a decade. The sound goes back to straight-up, less theatrical, angrier-sounding Trio classics like From Here to Infirmary, Maybe I'll Catch Fire and Goddamnit. Especially "No Where Left" - even the bass (played by Skiba I presume) sounds like Trio bassist Dan Andriano's earlier work on classics like "Stupid Kid" and "Armageddon".

Still, because it's only four songs (and less than ten minutes of music), Sauve Les Requins (Save the Sharks) is a difficult EP to really get into. It's brief, to the point, no frills pop punk. The songs are energetic and strong - they don't song like Alkaline Trio (or Matt Skiba Demos) throwaways. And busy Atom Willard has gone all out stamping his sound on things.

REFUSED & AT THE DRIVE IN: BACK FROM THE DEAD

This one caught me off guard. Nothing, it seems, is FINAL in rock 'n roll. Not even death...

This month, cult Swedish hardcore legends Refused and over-before-their-time, Mars Volta-spawning Texas weirdos At the Drive In announced their immediate reinstatements. Both bands are scheduled to play The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California this April.

Refused are also playing Groezrock in Belgium, Swedish fest Way Out West and a handful of other dates. There are even rumours that The Offspring (I know, right), Refused and At the Drive In are planning a summer Euro tour together...

I know, everyone's reforming. Yawn, you've heard it all before. Thing is, these two bands, on numerous occasions, stressed just how impossible the idea of a reunion was. At the Drive In's split was anything but amicable, divided into the short-back-and-sides Sparta camp and the more psychedelically-inclined, afro-sporting Mars Volta camp.

Refused went even further, writing a manifesto titled 'Refused Are Fucking Dead,' which included the line
, "we will never play together again and we will never try to glorify or celebrate what was".

Predictably, Refused issued a lengthy statement on their official website.

At the Drive In's official statement; "To whom it may concern. At the Drive In will be breaking their 11 year silence. This station is.... now ....operational".
